“Eyes on Me -featured in FINAL FANTASY VIII-,” Angela Aki - Kokoro no Senshi

In 2006, Japanese singer-songwriter-pianist Angela Aki (vocalist and lyricist for Final Fantasy XII’s vocal theme “Kiss Me Good-Bye”) recorded a rearranged cover of “Eyes on Me,” Final Fantasy VIII’s theme song. She later performed it live at VOICES: Music from Final Fantasy in Tokyo the same year.

In a recent web radio show hosted by Square Enix, Tetsuya Nomura appeared as a guest, where he briefly answered a question regarding a game that everyone has been waiting to hear about—Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Towards the end of the show, asked Nomura a number of questions from fans. One of the questions was about Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which Square Enix has been quiet about for over a year. Here’s the question and Nomura’s reply:

Q: I’ve been excitedly waiting for any news regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII. When will we be hearing more?

Nomura: Any information about Versus is very… sensitive, even within the company. We’ve been quiet about it for the past year, but the day of being able to remove its information ban has already been decided, and we’re currently preparing for that day. When that time comes, we’ll also reveal our reason for the delay of any form of announcement.

Sure, the plastic look-alikes of Sora’s Kingdom Key look quite similar to the in-game weapon which is iconic to the KINGDOM HEARTS franchise. But never before has an authentic keyblade been forged with steel, until Tony Swatton “the master swordsmith and renowned propmaster” from the Man At Arms show decided to make one by himself, after tons of requests from fans. Take a look at the video of the forging below.

Forged using “high-speed belt grinders, scorching furnaces, and pounding power hammers”, the Kingdom Key has never before looked so authentic. Although it lacks the power to vanquish heartless and lock the world’s keyhole, it’s still a very decent weapon, as demonstrated by Swatton himself taking the blade out to “bust up some stuff”.

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster confirmed for North America, Europe

Square Enix Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced that it will be releasing the HD remastered editions of FINAL FANTASY® X and FINAL FANTASY X-2 in 2013 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment and PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment systems. “These games are classic fan-favorites, and we hope that new and old FINAL FANTASY fans can experience the world of Spira and the story of Tidus and Yuna in a brand-new light with these remastered editions,” said Yoshinori Kitase, producer of FINAL FANTASY X and FINAL FANTASY X-2. FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster is a single disc bundle that will be available on the PlayStation®3 system. FINAL FANTASY X HD Remaster and FINAL FANTASY X-2 HD Remaster will be available for the PlayStation®Vita system.

The remaster project was first announced at Tokyo Game Show in 2011 as part of Final Fantasy X’s 10th anniversary, which first released in Japan for the Playstation 2 on July 19, 2001. The remaster editions of both games will be of their PAL and International versions, which feature bonus gameplay content that has never been released outside Japan or Europe.
